Devouring the forest

Part of a Washington Post's "The Amazon, undone" series, this 18-month-long investigation into Brazil's cattle industry revealed that beef is the main driver of destruction in the Amazon rainforest. Using satellite imagery, we zoomed into cattle grazing on illegal land, uncovering part of a long and complex supply chain that directly connects illegally deforested ranches to factories authorized to export to the U.S. Tools used: QGIS, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, Datawrapper.
